Lake Livingston Fishing Report June 2010

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 2000 cfs with a lake level of 131.16.

Lake Livingston is in great shape now with good fishing reports coming in from Lake Livingston marinas and campgrounds. White Bass are “on fire,” on the south end and mid lake. Good reports of Black Bass caught mostly off lay downs and under boat houses are coming in from all over the lake. Fishing for Blue Cats shallow off the bulk heads has slowed down now with the warmer water. Excellent reports of Crappie still being caught in the creeks on the north end of the lake and off the boat houses mid and south lake.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Excellent fishing here recently out of Beacon Bay Marina. Whites are being caught now in good numbers around Pine Island on trolled pet spoons. Look for schooling fish early. Fish the humps at 15’-21’ around mid morning with jigging slabs. Best days are sunny with little wind. Some good Black Bass have been caught in the boat houses here recently. The early bite for Blacks has been the best. After the sun gets hot key on flipping soft plastic worms and craw worms in the shaded part of the boat houses.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Black Bass good on pumpkin sinkos around the docks. A six lb. bass was reported caught and released on a jug line. Catfish on jugs has been good early on fresh shad. Crappie good on the docks and in Bethy creek on live minnows rubbed with fresh hamburger meat.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Cat fishing has been very good near the marina and off the pier at the marina.

BROWDER’S MARINA - Catfish and White Bass good below the dam on fresh shad. Catfish good in the lake early on noodles baited with fresh shad. White bass picking up around pine island.

COVE MARINA - River is clearing now providing improved fishing. Cat fishing has been good on rod and reel and also on trot lines baited with fresh shad. Black bass fishing has been good her in Carolina creek and in Thomas lake on soft plastic watermelon red lizards and black neon chigger craws. Crappie are still being caught up Carolina creek and are beginning to show up in the river.

GALLOWAYS MARINA - Water is in good shape here with Black Bass being caught off the points on medium diving crank baits with some Whites mixed in. Good numbers of large Blue Cats still being caught on trot lines in the river baited with fresh shad.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Black bass are being caught here in good numbers around cattails and lay downs. Water is in good shape. Cat fishing in the river channel has been fair on rod and reel baited with fresh cut shad. Good jug lining in the mouth of Harmon Creek.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for Black Bass in Brushy Creek on soft plastic craw fish and spinner baits. A few good catfish have been caught in the river channel but has slowed with the heat.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Good White bass fishing on trolled pet spoons around the old 190 road bed when the wind lays.

OUTBACK CAMPGROUND AND MARINA - Bank fishing for Blue Cats here has slowed with the warmer weather. Trot lining the river has been steady for good numbers of Blue Cats. Several nice Black Bass have been caught here recently near the marina.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Continued excellent fishing here out of Penwaugh. Catfish good on jug lines baited with fresh shad early. Black Bass to 6lb. Have been reported caught recently off the boat houses on soft plastic june bug lizards, and rattle traps. White Bass are being caught in good numbers early off the points chasing shad. Also, good numbers of Whites with occasional Striper mixed in are coming off traditional humps from 15’ to 21’on jigged slabs off the bottom. The “Lump, Old 190 Road Bed, Dove Island and the river channel breaks are all producing fish. Best fishing is on calm days around mid morning. Some recent schooling action for Whites recently in Kickapoo Creek.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Excellent fishing for white Bass recently out of Sandy Creek. The Old 190 Bridge, the Railroad Bridge and the old river channel have all produced good numbers of fish caught recently on jigging slabs and trolled pet spoons. Fish have been sporadically schooling around the river channel and at the mouth of Kickapoo Creek. Excellent Black Bass fishing recently with good numbers of fish 14” to 18” taking a variety of soft plastic worms and craw worms fished around the boat houses. Key on the deeper boat houses.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Several “nice” Black Bass were caught recently out of Walkers Camp Ground on live minnows. Cat fishing remains good on rod and reel near the marina.

WATER FRONT LODGE - A 50lb. Catfish was brought in here recently caught on a trot line, also a 16” Black Bass was caught off the pier at Water Front Lodge. White Bass fishing has been excellent out of here.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Water conditions are excellent here with some good reports of Crappie and Black Bass being caught up the creeks in the brush tops on live minnows.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 131.24 with a release of 5000 cfs.

Fishing on Lake Livingston is excellent now with water conditions looking good in most areas. Crappie and Black Bass fishing up the creeks are on fire. Crappie and Black Bass are on the beds. Crappie are biting on minnows and jigs. Black Bass are being caught on spinner baits, Texas rigged lizards and craw-worms. Good numbers of catfish are being caught shallow on the bulkheads early and on jug-lines baited with fresh shad. Some big Stripers have been caught recently on trotlines in the river north of the lake. White Bass fishing is good off main lake points and around Dove Island.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Water in good shape here. Crappie and Black Bass fishing is good.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Excellent Crappie fishing at the marina off the boat docks and around the boat houses in Bethy Creek. Black Bass fishing here has been good on soft plastic Texas-rigged craw-worms, lizards and sinkos fished under the boat houses.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Crappie are spawning and bite has been good. Black Bass are on the beds and being caught on worms.

BROWDER’S MARINA - White Bass fishing is good below the dam with lots of fish being reported caught here.

COVE MARINA - Excellent Crappie fishing here in Thomas Lake and also up Carolina Creek. Black Bass fishing has been excellent here fishing around cat-tails and wood up Carolina Creek. Excellent fishing for Blue Cats on jug-lines in the open part of Carolina Creek. The river is clearing out with some big Ops and Stripers being caught in the river here recently.

GALLOWAYS MARINA - Crappie fishing good here in Caney Creek and good around the boat stalls. Excellent Catfishing reported near the marina with several large Ops up to 62 lbs being weighed here.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Catfish are being caught on jug-lines.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for Black Bass and Crappie up Indian Creek.

OUTBACK CAMPGROUND AND MARINA - Catfish reported being caught off the banks at the marina and on trotlines.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Excellent bites here on Black Bass, Crappie, White Bass and Catfish. Lots of shad in the water. Fish are still sitting on the beds.  White Bass schooling early on the points and chasing shad.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - White Bass are biting good up the creek and off Dove Island. The water condition here is looking good. Black Bass are starting to move into deeper water.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Excellent fishing here for Catfish and White Bass.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Fishing good here for Crappie and White Bass. Some reports of good Stripers coming in. Water conditions look good.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 24,000 cfs and a lake level of 131.82.

Fishing has been great on Lake Livingston recently and should continue with the warming temperatures. White Bass are now making their annual run up the river. Nice stringers of White Bass have been caught in the upper creeks. Black Bass fishing has been excellent with numerous fish 5 -7 lbs reported caught recently. Crappie are beginning to move shallow to spawn. With the beautiful weather and the great fishing, now is the time to enjoy an outing on Lake Livingston.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Water is mostly clear here with good Black Bass fishing reported in Beacon Bay and in Tigerville.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Cat fishing has been excellent. Blues are being caught on fresh shad and perch. Crappie fishing has been fair off of the pier. White Bass fishing has been good. Whites are being caught on Little Georges. Small Rattle traps and live bait. Black Bass are taking 7 inch Berkley Power Worms (Black and Chartreuse) around the rocks.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Crappie fishing remains good on live minnows and jigs fished in the brush tops in Kickapoo and Rocky Creek. Black Bass here has been good on spinner baits and on soft plastic. A few Whites are being caught up Kickapoo and Rocky Creek.

BROWDER’S MARINA - Good fishing for catfish below the dam on fresh cut shad. Good crappie fishing in the willows.

COVE MARINA - Good fishing for Catfish. Crappie fishing has been good up against the banks. White Bass fishing has been spotty.

GALLOWAYS MARINA - Some good White Bass fishing has been reported up White Rock Creek and Caney Creek. A few Crappie are being caught around the boathouses. Upper parts of White Rock are clear, areas closer to the river channel remain muddy.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Fishing for spawning Whites has been excellent in Harmon Creek recently. Fish are being caught on jigs and in-line spinners off the sandbars. Crappie are starting to show up in the brush tops. Cat fishing has been good in the Harmon Creek flats on jug-lines baited with fresh shad.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Good catfish being caught off the bulkheads. Some good Black Bass have been caught in nearby Brushy Creek.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Good Crappie fishing near the marina. Cat fishing has been excellent on jug-lines.

OUTBACK CAMPGROUND AND MARINA - The river channel across from Outback remains high and muddy. There has been some excellent cat fishing for big Blues in the river channel on rod and reels baited with fresh shad.

PENWAUGH MARINA - No report on White Bass. Catfish good on jug-lines. Excellent Black Bass fishing here on soft plastic lizards and ¼ oz Rattle Traps. Good Crappie fishing in the brush tops around the bulkheads.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Good fishing here for catfish on jug-lines, Black Bass in the boat stalls, and good Crappie fishing up Kickapoo Creek on live minnows.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Good Crappie fishing in Kickapoo Creek. Black Bass are being caught on soft plastic fished around wood up Kickapoo Creek.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Some excellent fishing for White Bass up White Rock Creek. Good Crappie are being caught in the brush tops on minnow fished about 4 foot deep.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 33,900 cfs and a lake level of 131.07. Recent water temperatures around the lake have been checked at 46 - 52 degrees. Lake is returning to normal level after the recent rise. Water remains off color in some places, but should clear up without another rise.

Overall, fishing across the lake has been good in recent days between cold fronts. The White Bass spawn up the river seems to be a little later this year. Lots of White Bass are being caught up the creeks. Most of the fish have been males.

The big news from Lake Livingston is that Robert Laird fishing a Polk County Bass Club Tournament weighed in a new Lake Livingston record Black Bass. The fish weighed 13.18 lbs, surpassing the old record of 12.45 lbs which has held since 1987. The fish has been donated to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Share-A-Lunker program and is the first fish entered from Lake Livingston. There have been numerous 6 - 9 lb Black Bass weighed in recently around the lake.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Good fishing for Catfish on jug-lines baited with fresh shad.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - A few Crappie being caught around the boat stalls. Crappie fishing here should improve with warming weather conditions. Water here is in great shape. A few Catfish are being caught in the river on rod and reels. Black Bass fishing is slow.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Water here is in good shape with a temperature around 46 degrees. Crappie being caught 8 - 10 foot deep on minnows before the recent cold front.

BROWDER’S MARINA - White Bass were good in the river before the recent high water. Crappie fishing has been good in the flooded willows. Fishing should improve below the dam when water release gets back down to 17,000 cfs. Good fishing for catfish on jugs in the main lake.

COVE MARINA - The water is still a little off color in Carolina Cove, but is improving daily. Good cat fishing on jugs in Carolina Cove A few big catfish has been caught in the river with rod and reel baited with fresh shad. Crappie are starting to show up in the creeks.

GALLOWAYS MARINA - Blue Cats being caught on rod and reel in the river baited with fresh shad. Crappie fishing had been good around the marina and up Caney Creek until the high water and should return with the normal lake level. Some good catches of White Bass has been reported up Caney Creek.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - White Bass fishing has been excellent up Harmon Creek during warming trends. Lots of males being caught with a few big females showing up. Whites are being caught mostly casting in-line spinners and jigs worked slow over sandbars close to the deep holes. Good catfish on jugs baited with fresh shad in the Bois Arcs in Harmon Creek. No report on Black Bass. Some good number of Crappie have been caught on live minnows in the brush.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Cat fishing has been good from the bank .on rod and reel baited with fresh shad. Cat fishing good on jug-lines baited with shad in the main lake.

HOLIDAY SHORES - Cat fishing good on trotlines baited with shad.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Cat fishing has been good on jug-lines baited with fresh shad.

OUTBACK CAMPGROUND AND MARINA - Cat fishing is always good here and have moved up close to the bank. They are being caught on rod and reel baited with shrimp.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Water is a little off color but looks good. Crappie has been caught in the boat stalls by the marina. Some good Black Bass have been caught here recently.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Good Crappie fishing continues in the boat stalls and trees. The fish are taking minnows at 7 - 8 foot. Catfish are good on jug-lines, and a few White Bass are being caught along with the Crappie.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Water is clear and looking good. Crappie fishing has been good up the creek in the brush tops.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 6000 cfs and the lake level is reported at 131.32. Water temperature is around 50 degrees.

Lake Livingston is in great shape now with good reports coming in from all areas of the lake.

Crappie fishing has been outstanding. White Bass are making their annual spawn run up the river. Black Bass are on the nest. Blue Cats are being caught all over the lake.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Good fishing for Crappie in the boat stalls. No reports on Whites. A few Black Bass are being caught.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Crappie are being caught off the piers on jigs. A good number of Blue Cats are being caught in the river. A few Whites are coming in from the river. The river is in great shape now for the White Bass spawn. If conditions stay the same with the rising water temperature, the river should be exploding with White Bass.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Limits of Crappie have been caught early in Kickapoo Creek on jigs and minnows 7 foot deep in 15 foot of water. White Bass are starting to move up Kickapoo Creek.

BROWDER’S MARINA - Good numbers of White Bass are being caught in the river. Good Crappie are being caught in the river in the willows.

COVE MARINA - Good numbers of White Bass are being caught in Thomas Lake on rattle traps. Crappie fishing has been good. Blue Cats are being caught in the river. A few Black Bass are being caught.

GALLOWAYS MARINA - Excellent Crappie are being caught in Caney Creek. Big Cats are being caught in the river. White Bass are being reported in the river.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Limits of White Bass were reported recently. Best fishing has been during warming trends with a southeast wind. Crappie fishing has been excellent.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Catfish good in the river.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Good Crappie being caught in the boat stalls and up the creek.

OUTBACK CAMPGROUND AND MARINA - Catfish good in the river. Crappie are being caught in the boat stalls and in brush near the river.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Crappie good in the boat houses.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Crappie fishing is excellent up Kickapoo Creek. Catfish on trotlines have been good around Dove Island.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Excellent Crappie being reported. Good Catfish being caught on rod and reel. Fishing has been great in Kickapoo Creek.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Crappie fishing has been reported good up White Rock Creek.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 5000 cfs with a lake level of 131.21 Fishing has slowed over all with cold air dropping water temperature below 50 degrees. Fishing has been good on warm afternoons between cold fronts. Best fishing recently has been for big Ops. The big fish are taking perch baited on trotlines in the river channel.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Crappie have been good under the boathouses in the creek on baited brush piles fished with live minnows.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for big Ops in the river channel and some blues being caught in Bethy Creek on jug-lines.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Good Crappie fishing in the creek in 8 - 10 foot of water on live minnows.

COVE MARINA - A few Whites being caught in Thomas Lake on warm afternoons, Black Bass fishing slow, good fishing for big Ops in the river channel. Jug-lining for Blues in the flats has been fair. Duck hunting here has been average this year with some good hunts for Wood Ducks and Mallards following the cold fronts.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Fair fishing for Blue-cats in the Bois d’arcs on jug-lines and popping corks baited with shad fished 3 - 5’ deep. Fair duck hunting here for Teal, Mallards and Wood Ducks.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Fishing has been good here for big Ops on trotlines in the river channel when the wind lays.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for Crappie in the boat stalls.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Good fishing for Crappie in the boat houses.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for Crappie in Kickapoo Creek on minnows fished 8 - 10’ deep. Some good Blues being caught on jug-lines fished where the wind is blowing.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - A few good Crappie being caught. Black Bass fishing has been slow.

WATERFRONT LODGE - Fair Crappie fishing in the boat stalls and some nice Blues being caught off the bulkheads.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Fair duck hunting here for Wood Ducks and Mallards. There are a lot of diving ducks rafting in the open part of White Rock Creek. Crappie and Black Bass fishing has been slow.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 4000 cfs at the dam and a lake level of 131.55. Water in most areas has been around 58 - 59 degrees.

Duck hunting has been good with lots of Teal and Wood Ducks being taken.

BETHY CREEK MARINA -. Crappie fair around the boat stalls. Catfish good on juglines in Bethy Creek

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Crappie fishing good and are being caught in 4-6 feet of water on minnows.

COVE MARINA - Fair Black Bass fishing and good White Bass reported in Thomas Lake. Crappie fishing has been spotty. Duck hunting fair with straps holding 3 -4 ducks.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - White Bass fishing fair. Some good Hybrids caught recently. Black Bass fishing good on soft plastic, baby brush hogs. Some good catfish being caught on juglines in Harmon Creek. 1 big Op. reported recently, caught in the river on rod and reel baited with fresh dead minnow. Duck hunting reported good recently for Teal and Wood Ducks.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Good duck hunting here for Wood Ducks and Teal. Good reports of Catfish being taken on juglines and trotlines.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Crappie fishing good in boat houses. Water clear in the creek.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Crappie fishing reported good under bridges and up Kickapoo Creek. Catfishing has been good on juglines baited with fresh shad.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Black Bass fishing is fair on spinner baits. Catfishing has been good in Kickapoo Creek on juglines baited with fresh shad.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Good Crappie fishing being reported. Catfishing off the bank at marina has been good for Bluecats in moving water.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 29,500cfs. with all of the gates open at the dam and a lake level of 132.22. Much of Lake Livingston and the river on the upper end of the lake is muddy with a lot of new water coming in. Black Bass fishing has been excellent in some of the backwaters where water remains clear and slowly rising. Cat fishing in the river channel has been spotty with some good fish caught recently but not the numbers of fish you would expect with the current moving in the river. Conditions look good for duck season.

BEACON BAY MARINA - Water in good shape here, good fishing for black Bass in the boat stalls.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Water is a little off color in Bethy creek now due to recent rains. Black Bass fishing has been good in the boat houses on spinner baits.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Water is clear here with Crappie fishing reported as being very good. No reports on Blacks.

BROWDER’S MARINA - Al gates open below the dam, good fishing for blue cats.

COVE MARINA - Crappie have been good up Carolina Creek in the brush piles on minnows. Black Bass fishing good in Thomas Lake on soft plastic. Good numbers of small Blacks caught recently. Cat fishing good in the bay on jug lines baited with fresh shad. Cat fishing in the river has been fair.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for Whites here recently. However the last few days they seem to have turned off. Water clarity has been changing due to local rains. Black Bass fishing has been fair in clear water areas. Catfish have been excellent with Blue cats 10lbs and over and Ops. Being caught on trot lines and jug lines in the flats.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Good cat fishing on trot lines baited with live perch.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Good crappie fishing in the boat stalls.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Some good Black Bass have been caught recently in the creek near the marina on soft plastic worms. Also, Crappie fishing remains strong in the boat houses with the best bite around 10:00 am when the sun comes out. Some good catfish have been caught recently off the bulk heads. It has been to windy here recently to venture out into the lake.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for blue cats on jug lines baited with fresh shad. Good Crappie fishing up Kickapoo Creek in the brush tops on live minnows.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Good Crappie fishing here and good Black Bass being reported caught on spinner baits.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 4000 cfs at the dam and a lake level of 130.28. Fishing remains excellent all across Lake Livingston with good reports coming from local marinas. The lake is about 1 foot low now with water being clear in most areas.

Black Bass fishing on Lake Livingston continues to be excellent. Fish up to 10 lbs brought in recently and fish 2-4 lbs are common. Soft plastic Texas-rigged crawworms and Baby Brushhogs have been effective. Blacks are also taking crank baits fished on rocks and wood.

Crappie fishing has been exceptionally good on lower lake boat houses that are in deeper water on minnows and jigs. Some really big crappie have been checked in recently at local marinas and reports of the best Crappie fishing in years.

Catfish continues to be good on juglines and trotlines.

White Bass has been spotty in the creeks. White Bass continues good on the main lake on trolled pet spoons and jigging slabs. Watch for schooling fish under birds.

Stripers reported schooling on south end of lake early at first light.

Duck Hunting for Teal has been spotty with most parties reporting 3 - 5 birds per hunt with several straps of 12-16 birds reported.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Black Bass good on soft plastics fished in the log jams on the river. White Bass schooling around the rocks and sandbar. Crappie fair around the boat stalls. Catfish good on juglines.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Crappie fishing good and are being caught in 4-6 feet of water on minnows.

COVE MARINA - Good Black Bass fishing reported with fish up to 7 lbs being weighed in. Crappie fishing has been spotty. Lots of Teal hunters reported with straps holding 3 -4 ducks.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - White Bass fishing good, caught on rattle traps, with fish from 10 - 14 inches reported. Black Bass fishing good on soft plastic, baby brush hogs, with fish 3 - 5 lbs being caught. HARTS CREEK MARINA - Good Teal hunting opening weekend. Good reports of Catfish being taken on juglines and trotlines.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Crappie fishing good in boat houses. Excellent Striper bite at daylight being reported south of Pine Island on Zara Spooks and Rattle Traps. Excellent catches of schooling White Bass have been reported.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Crappie fishing reported good under bridges and up Kickapoo Creek. Best Crappie fishing in years being reported. Catfishing has been good.

WALKERS CAMP GROUNDS - Black Bass fishing is good, with fish up to10 lbs being reported. Catfishing has been excellent.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Good Crappie fishing being reported. Good Black Bass fishing has been reported with fish being caught up and down the creek.. Water is low but clear.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 4000 cfs with 4 gates open and a lake level of 131.15.

Fishing on Lake Livingston recently has been outstanding for White Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Black Bass. Most of the lake is clear now with some areas of discolored water. White Bass are on fire now on the main lake and lower lake areas. Traditional hotspots are producing limits of fish on slabs and trolled spoons. Catfish are spawning and are being caught in good numbers early shallow on the bulkheads. The big news is Crappie fishing has been outstanding recently around the lake. Black Bass fishing has improved recently after the fish seemed to be in post spawn doldrums. Reports of Black Bass 6 - 10 lbs are coming in from all around the lake.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - White Bass fishing has been excellent. There has been some spotty schooling of White Bass in the middle of the creek. Whites are being caught on trolled pet spoons on drop-offs and humps. Jigged slabs and Little Georges are also taking good numbers of Whites. A few Stripers to 24” are also being caught. Crappie good on minnows and catfish excellent on jugs, rod and reels and trotlines baited with fresh shad. Black Bass to 8 lbs have been taken here recently on soft plastic and buzz baits fished early.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Good Crappie fishing up Kickapoo Creek. Black Bass have been good on soft plastic and spinner baits.

BROWDER’S MARINA - Reports excellent White Bass and Stripers in the lake on humps and drop-offs in 20’ of water. Troll pet spoons and jig slabs, CC Spoons and old reliables off the west hump.

COVE MARINA - Reports good Crappie fishing up Carolina Creek. Also, excellent fishing for Big Cats in the river on trotlines. Several Ops over 20 lbs have been brought in. Black Bass fishing is good on soft plastic Creature Baits and Sinkos, Texas rigged. Several nice Black Bass 4 lb to 7 lbs have been caught recently up Carolina Creek on minnows.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Good Crappie fishing in Harmon with lots of short fish being caught. Crappie are in the brush tops on the cut banks taking minnows and jigs at about 4’. Jug-lining for Catfish is good in the flats. Black Bass fishing is fair.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Reports excellent fishing for Catfish here. The larger fish are coming in from trotlines baited with live perch in the river channel.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - White Bass fishing good now in the main lake off structure. Lots of Blue Cats being caught here off the bulkheads early.

OUTBACK CAMPGROUND AND MARINA - Excellent fishing for Blue Cats right off the bank at the marina. Jug-lines are also taking plenty of fish baited with fresh shad and perch.

PENWAUGH MARINA - White Bass fishing has been hot out of Penwaugh. Limits of Whites are being caught on trolled pet spoons and slabs jigged on humps and the 190 Road Bed. Black Bass are fair early. Crappie fishing here recently has been outstanding. Good numbers of Crappie are being caught on minnows off the boathouses in 12’ of water.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Catfish have been excellent here with good numbers of Blues being caught early on jug-lines baited with fresh shad. Crappie fishing good. White Bass fishing is good.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Lots of Blue Cats are reported being caught here in Bethy Creek and in the river channel. Rod and reel, jug lines and trotlines are all producing fish on a variety of baits. Crappie fishing is good at the marina and Black Bass fishing was excellent recently but has slowed. Blacks are biting on soft plastic crawfish and spinner baits.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Black Bass fishing good with some fish reported to still be on the beds. Crappie are being caught shallow. Some nice catfish have been coming in on jug lines and trotlines baited with fresh shad.

BROWDER’S MARINA - White Bass in the lake on the humps with water in good shape. White Bass, Catfish and Stripers are good below the dam.

COVE MARINA - Crappie fair at the marina and up Carolina Creek. Black Bass fishing has been fair in pockets of clear water on soft plastic crawfish, spinner baits and crank baits. Fishing for Blue Cats here has been excellent on jugs in the flats, rod and reel and trotlines in the river channel. Fresh shad has been the best bait for Blue Cats.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Water is in good shape in Harmon Creek. White Bass fishing continues to be good, but is spotty as fish move up and down the creek. Whites are biting a variety of baits including in-line spinners, jigs and 1/8 oz rattle traps. Troll to find the fish and then cast into the schools. Not much being reported on Black Bass fishing here but some fish are being seen on the beds. Crappie fishing is good shallow in the brush tops. Blues and Ops are being caught on trotlines baited with live perch, gold fish and shad.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Reports excellent Crappie fishing near the marina around the boat docks on live minnows.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - A few good Crappie are still coming in here. Blue Cats have been excellent on jugs and rod and reels baited with fresh shad.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Water is in good shape in White Rock Creek at the marina. Crappie fishing has been fair to good in the brush tops on live minnows. Black Bass fishing is good on soft plastic fished in clear pockets off White Rock Creek.

The lake is in great shape now with good fishing reports coming in from all local marinas.White Bass are now moving up the River and are being caught in good numbers. Black Bass are good up the creeks and are being caught on spinner baits and soft plastics. Crappie fishing has been excellent recently in the major creeks.

Bethy Creek Resort - Crappie fishing has been good in the boat stalls in Bethy. Black Bass have been good up to 5 lbs in Bethy Creek on spinner baits and soft plastics White Bass fishing has been excellent in the River Channel on trolled 1/4 oz Rattle Traps. Catfish has been excellent on juglines baited with fresh cut shad.

Broken Arrow Marina - Excellent fishing for Crappie up the creek, being caught 12' - 14' deep. Black Bass fishing has been excellent here on soft plastic creature baits and spinner baits around dead wood.

Browders Marina - Good fishing for Blue Cats below the spillway and the river on fresh shad.

Cove Marina - White Bass fishing excellent in River Channel on Crank Baits and trolled 1/4 oz Rattle Traps. Black Bass fishing has been excellent in Carolina Cove on soft plastics fished around dead wood. Trotline fishing for big cats has been good.

Harmon Creek Marina - White Bass fishing has been excellent with 14 - 16 inch fish being caught. Crappie fishing has been good. Excellent jugline fishing recently for big Blue Cats.

Harts Creek Marina - Some nice Blue Cats are being caught near the Marina on fresh shad.

Indian Creek Marina - Good Crappie are being caught shallow at the marina on live minnows. Catfish have been good on fresh shad.

Penwaugh Marina - Crappie fishing has been good in the creek. Black Bass fishing has been good. A few Stripers are being caught off of main lake points.

Sandy Creek - Catfish has been good on juglines. Crappie fishing has been excellent in Kickapoo Creek on minnows fished deep.

White Rock City - White Bass fishing excellent North of 94 Bridge. Crappie fishing has been good around brush tops with minnows. Water is clear in White Rock Creek

White Rock City - A few Crappie coming in. Duck hunting fair.

Sandy Creek - Catfish good on jugs fished with fresh shad.

Holiday Shores - Crappie fishing good shallow on minnows in the boat stalls. Black Bass fair.

Cove Marina - Duck hunting has been good here and a few nice crappie are being caught at the pier.

Harmon Creek Marina - Crappie fishing has been excellent in the boat stalls, Black Bass are being caught on minnows. White Bass are spotty up the creek with some good catches being made on rooster tails.

Walkers Water front Lodge - Crappie fishing excellent in the shallows on minnows, Several nice Black Bass to over 6lbs. taken recently here at the marina on purple crank baits.

Penwaugh Marina - Good crappie fishing in the creek around the boat houses and brush piles.

Trinity River Authority reports a release of 100 cfs at the dam and a lake level of 130.81.

Fishing for Black Bass on Lake Livingston continues to be excellent. Fish up to 8 lbs brought in recently and fish 2-4 lbs are common. White Spinner Baits fished around wood near cut banks has been producing good numbers of bites. Soft plastic Texas-rigged crawworms and Baby Brushhogs have been effective. Blacks are also taking crank baits fished on rocks and wood.

Crappie fishing has been good in the creeks and boat houses on minnows and jigs. Some really big crappie have been checked in recently at local marinas.

White Bass has been spotty in the creeks. Some recent days have produced good catches of big whites in Harmon Creek and White Rock Creeks on trolled jigs.

Duck Hunting has been good but is spotty as ducks have been concentrated in certain areas. Wood ducks have been good up the creeks.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Good Black Bass over 5 lbs being caught in Bethy Creek. Crappie fishing good in the boat stalls.

COVE MARINA - Nice crappie being caught up the creek and under the pier at Cove Marina. Catfish good on sand flats on trotlines baited with shad and on jugs. Catfish are schooling at night. Good opening day for ducks.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Crappie fishing has been good. Catfish good on trotlines. White Bass has been good on and off. Black Bass good, with fish up to 8 lbs being caught.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Crappie fishing has been good in the creek in 7-8 feet of water on minnow and jigs.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Crappie fishing good and are being caught 5 feet over cover in 15 feet of water on minnows. Black Bass are being caught late evening on topwater bait in the river channel. Bass up to 4 lbs being caught. Catfishing has been slow. Duck hunting reported slow.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Crappie fishing is good in the creek. White Bass bite has been slow, but Black Bass has been good.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Catfishing has been good. Ron Arnold from Baytown, reeled in a nice Blue Cat from the dock weighing 24.5 lbs Duck hunting was good for the opening day weekend.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Black Bass is good early on spinner baits and soft plastic around the docks. Some crappie are being caught on minnow and jigs. Catfish has been good on stink bait.

Excellent Black Bass fishing continues on Lake Livingston. Three to five pound fish are being caught all over the lake with a occasional six to seven pound fish being reported. Black Bass are taking Lizards, craw worms, worms creature baits, jigs wacky worms and spinner baits. Plastic worms with a different color tail than the body seem to be doing better than solid colors. The Bass are being caught in three to six feet of water around logs, rocks and under boat houses.

White Bass fishing remains good in the main lake, however, has slowed off the recent pace with the rising water temperature. Lots of good fish are still being caught from the Pine Island area off the river channel and Walker Lake, the 190 Road Bed and Dove Island. Whites in the 13 - 15 inch class are now starting to show up in better numbers. Schooling action for Whites is good, but is hard to predict from day to day. Schools are popping up and moving quickly and hard to get into.

Crappie fishing has been good, especially at night under lights in the creeks on live minnows. Bream fishing is excellent in the creeks around marinas. Catfishing remains good, especially on jug-lines baited with fresh shad early in the morning.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Good Black Bass fishing on craw worms fished shallow around wood and rocks. Black Bass also excellent in the river channel on lizards fished in the log jams for fish suspended under the logs.

COVE MARINA - Black Bass fishing excellent early in the morning on Big Bite watermelon seed creature baits fished around wood in the creek. Fish up to 5 pounds have been caught here recently on jigs and craw worms fished under the boat houses in the shade from mid to late morning.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Black Bass fishing good to 4 pounds on june bug Baby Brush Hogs with chartreuse dipped tails fished in Harmon Creek. Catfish are biting good on jugs here.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Crappie fishing is good here on jigs and minnows fished around shallow stick-ups, keying on shaded areas. Black Bass are good in White Rock Creek and in the mouths of the feeder creeks on spinner baits and lizards.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Black Bass fishing good to 6 ½ pounds here on soft plastic worms with colored tails. Good Crappie fishing at night under the lights on live minnows. Water is in good shape here.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - White Bass good on the main lake on trolled pet spoons. Catfish good on jug-lines on fresh shad.

BEACON BAY - White Bass good around Pine Island off the river channel on trolled pet spoons near drop-offs and ledges 15 - 17 feet.

PENWAUGH MARINA - White Bass good on trolled pet spoons around the 190 Road Bed. Quiet a few fish in the 14 - 15 inch class are now being caught here.

HARTS CREEK MARINA - Catfishing has been good from the bank at the marina on fresh shad. Also, excellent Bream fishing from the bank at the marina.

SANDY CREEK MARINA - Catfishing good early on jug-lines baited with fresh shad. White Bass have been biting good around Dove Island on trolled pet spoons. Black Bass fishing has been excellent up Kick-a-poo Creek on lay downs and under boat houses. Crappie fishing has been best at night under lights in brush tops.

BROWDERS MARINA - Good fishing for White Bass and Stripers below the dam for schooling fish at first light.

The Trinity River Authority reports lake level of 131.11 ft with a discharge of 4000 cfs. Fishing has been good recently on all areas of Lake Livingston, North and South. White Bass have moved into the summer patterns and are being caught in the traditional areas when the wind allows. Black Bass fishing has been excellent recently with fish over 5 lbs common. Catfish have been chasing shad early on the bulkheads and are being caught in good numbers. Some excellent Crappie have also been caught recently.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Excellent crappie fishing in Bethy Creek. Black Bass fair. White Bass good in Bethy Creek with some schooling action reported.

COVE MARINA - Black Bass fishing has been good here on soft plastic crawfish. Fish shallow off dead wood and near cattails. White Bass fishing has been good in the big part of Carolina Creek. Whites are being caught by trolling quarter ounce rattletraps over ridges. Some Whites have been schooling late in the evening providing excellent fast action. Cat fishing here has been good on trotlines.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Lots of small White being caught in Harmon Creek along with occasional keepers. Crappie has been fair. Catfishing has been good in the river channel. Black Bass fishing in Harmon has been good.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Excellent Black Bass fishing out of White Rock City lately. Crappie good and catfish is steady.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Black Bass fishing is good. Lots of fish are being caught on soft plastics, crank baits and spinner baits off wood up Kickapoo Creek. Black Bass over 6 lbs have been checked in to Broken Arrow recently.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Catfish good shallow on fresh shad. Crappie fair. Black Bass good.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Black Bass fishing has been excellent out of Penwaugh recently. Several nice size Crappie have been caught here recently near the marina. Catfish good around the bulkheads early on fresh shad. Trotlines and Jug lining has been good for Catfish. The Trinity River Authority reports lake level of 131.42 ft with a discharge of 15,0000 cfs. Most of Lake Livingston is off color now due to run off from recent rains. The lake should begin to clear with several days of stable weather. White Bass are beginning to show up in the mid-lake area. Crappie fishing has been excellent recently in some areas including Penwaugh Resort, Kickapoo Creek, White Rock and Harmon Creeks. Catfish are moving swallow now and are being caught off the bulkheads with fresh shad. There are also lots of shad on the bulkheads. Black Bass fishing in the creeks has been excellent. Kickapoo and White Rock Creeks have produced good Black Bass by flipping soft plastic, keying on lay downs and dead wood. Chip and Brian Sewell won the Anglers Quest Saturday Series Tournament on March 22, 2008 with a five fish sack weighing 25.43 lbs. Wade Ellis and Toby Hartsell took second place with 21.52 lbs.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Excellent catfish bite in the river channel. Excellent crappie fishing in Bethy Creek. Black Bass fair.

COVE MARINA - Recent trot liners did very well in Carolina Creek. Black Bass fishing has been good here. A few Crappie are being caught. White Bass fishing has been fair.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Lots of small White being caught in Harmon Creek. Crappie has been fair. Catfishing has been good in the river channel.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Excellent Black Bass fishing out of White Rock City lately. Crappie good and catfish is steady.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - Lots of nice Black Bass are being caught by flipping the edge of the hyacinths and lay downs. Catfish are good shallow.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Catfish good shallow on fresh shad. Crappie fair.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Black Bass fishing has been excellent out of Penwaugh recently. Excellent fishing for spawning Crappie near Penwaugh Marina. Catfish good around the bulkheads early. Trotlines and Jug lining has been good for Catfish.

The Trinity River Authority reports lake level of 131.54 ft with a discharge of 24,000 cfs. The lake is rising with fresh runoff coming down the river channel from Dallas area rains. White Bass fishing has been excellent at times recently for spawning fish with mostly males in the creeks now. Fishing for catfish is excellent in the river channel. Crappie are beginning to move shallow with some nice ones being caught and Black Bass have moved shallow to spawn with females on the nest. Catfish in the main lake have also now moved shallow and are being caught on the sandbars and bulkheads.

BETHY CREEK MARINA - Excellent catfish bite in the river channel. White Bass good far up the creeks. Excellent crappie fishing in Bethy Creek.

COVE MARINA - Excellent catfish in river channel in rising water. Good catfish around the marina. No report on White Bass.

HARMON CREEK MARINA - Good fishing for male White Bass in Harmon Creek. Crappie fishing is slow but should improve with clearing water.

WHITE ROCK CITY MARINA - Good crappie fishing in White Rock Creek. Water is in good shape at the marina. Male White Bass up the creek.

BROKEN ARROW MARINA - White Bass fishing has been good by the waterfall. Black Bass fishing is good. Crappie fishing is good. Water clearing at the marina.

INDIAN CREEK MARINA - Catfish is good shallow. A few Crappie beginning to come in around the marina. No report on Black Bass.

PENWAUGH MARINA - Black Bass fishing is good in the creek. Crappie are moving shallow in the creek. A big Op was recently brought into Penwaugh.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level at 130.94 with a discharge of 2000 cfs at the Dam. Fishing in general recently has been spotty with changing conditions. All Marinas are reporting good action and conditions should improve with settled weather. Conditions are excellent for the annual White Bass Spawn up the River.

Harmon Creek Marina - creek off color now with good cat fishing in the trees with jugs. Crappie and white Bass have been slow. Some good Ops coming in from trot lines.

Bethy Creek Marina and Resort - Creek is stained but settling fast. Cat fishing has been good on jugs and rod and reel on fresh shad. Crappie are steady in the boat stalls. Black Bass fair on wacky worms in shallow water when the water warms near rocks and laydowns.

Indian Creek Marina - Catfish good on jugs and a few crappie being caught.

White Rock City - Water in White Rock Creek off color, crappie slow catfish steady.

Kickapoo Marina - Steady action for catfish up Kickapoo Creek on fresh shad. Crappie slow.

Broken Arrow - Reports Kickapoo creek off color with good catfish being caught, a few Crappie coming in and some good Black Bass caught on spinner baits.

Penwaugh Marina - Harry at Penwaugh reports Crappie being caught on minnows, rod and reel catfish good, Black Bass fair and some good Stripers caught recently near the banks on touts.

Lake Livingston Fishing Report Feb. 21,2005

The lake level is at 131.12 Just slightly above normal with most areas reporting the water dropping this past week. T.R.A. is releasing 4,000 cfs. Most of the lake remains off color but is clearing quickly mostly up the creeks.

Good reports of Crappie , Black Bass, White Bass and Catfish have all come in to local marinas recently.

Harmon Creek Marina---Reports clearing water around the marina and down stream with good White Bass being caught recently up Harmon and Caney Creeks. Some crappie are starting to show up around the boat house.

Bethy Creek Marina---reports Crappie fishing has been very good around the boat stall at the marina and also very good fishing for Blue Cats near the Marina on jug lines and rod and reel baited with fresh shad.

Indian Creek Marina ---reports good Crappie fishing in
8‘-10’ of water. Jug line catfish and rod and reel catfish also very good. Black Bass have moved shallow here and are being caught on spinnerbaits.

White Rock City Marina---reports improving conditions with the creek clearing upstream and fishing for Crappie and White Bass rebounding.

Galloways Marina---reports good action for catfish on rod and reel.

Kickapoo Marina ---reports improving conditions with the creek clearing. Crappie are being caught here in 8’-10’ of water. A big Opp. was caught here on a jug line and released. Good action for Blue cats also reported on jug lines out of Kickapoo.

LAKE LIVINGSTON FISHING REPORT MARCH 29 2005

The lake level is at 131.29 with 6 gates open and a release of 6,000 cfs. Fishing has been good out of all Marinas recently prior to the last cold front and is expected to rebound quickly with warming water and a south wind. Good reports of Crappie, Black Bass, White Bass and Catfish have all been coming in. Water temp. Has ranged from 55 to 65 degrees.

Harmon Creek Marina- Crappie fishing good shallow. White Bass good trolling and casting. Black Bass being caught on the nest. The creek is low but water is clear. Bethy Creek Marina - Crappie fishing has been excellent in the boat stalls and on the banks around the marina. Catfish are being caught also at the marina.

White Bass have been caught in the river channel casting. Indian Creek Marina Black Bass are being caught shallow. Crappie are in about 8 of water.

White Rock City Marina- Crappie fishing has been very good .

Galloways- Crappie fishing here has been excellent around the bulk heads and in the brush. Crappie are still deeper in White Rock and Caney Creeks. Black Bass to 3.5lbs have been caught recently on  spinnerbaits in the Jungle.

Kickapoo Marina- Good catfish on jug lines and good Black Bass fishing before the front.

Lake Livingston Fishing Report May 2005 David Cox

The lake level is 131.20 with a release of 2,000cfs. Most areas of the lake are clear  with some of the upper creeks muddied after local recent rain.

White Bass fishing is improving on the lower lake, Blacke Bass fishing has been good, catfishing has been excellent. 

Bethy Creek Marina reports good crappie fishing  with minnows and jigs on the pier at the Marina. Blue cats are good near the Marina on fresh shad.  Black Bass fishing has been excellent on spinnerbaits and soft plastic.   

Penwaugh Resort reports limits of White Bass comming in recently. 

Cove Marina reports good fishing for big catfish with a 8lb. 41lb. and 44lb. fish weighed in at the marina. 

Indian Creek Marina reports improving white Bass fishing and excellent catfishin on the bulkheads early and late on fresh shad. 

Galloways Marina has improving crappie fishing in the boat stall.  Excellent catfishing in shallow water and also good Black Bass fishing. 

Harmon Creek Marina  Crappie fishing fair on minnows in 4ft. of water.  Black Bass fishing good, White Bass have been scattered.

 White Rock City reports good Black Bass fishing up to 5lbs. Crappie fishing is fair in the creek.

The lake level is 130.68 with  a discharge of 1000, 00 cfs.

Fishing for catfish, White Bass and Black Bass has been good recently.

Early mornings and late evenings have  been the best times. The lake and most feeder creeks are clear.

White Bass are schooling in mid and lower lake. Quite a few Stripers are being caught. Catfish have been good on jug lines baited with fresh shad

The River channel above the lake is clear and producing good fishing for Black Bass in the log jams on june bug lizards. White Bass are near the cuts in the river and are taking deep diving crank baits.

Bethy Creek Marina has had excellent fishing for Black Bass with the best bite early on buzz baits. Blacks are also taking crank baits and soft plastic worked near wood and rock.
Cove Marina
has had good fishing for catfish on trot lines and Black Bass to 5lbs. on soft plastic.
Indian Creek reports excellent White Bass fishing and fair Black Bass fishing
Galloways Marina reports good fishing with some nice Black Bass being caught in Caney Creek.
White Rock City is good for Black Bass up White Rock Creek in the laydowns.
Penwaugh Resort reports excellent White Bass Fishing.
Becon Bay Marina has excellent fishing for White Bass near the river channel and Pine Island.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 130.81 with a release of 1000,00 cfs. of water at the dam. Good fishing continues all over Lake Livingston with early mornings best due to the heat.  The lake remains clear with good fishing for White Bass, Black Bass and Catfish.  No report on Crappie.  Some good Black Bass have come out of White Rock Creek The river Channel and several of the creeks on the northern end of the lake.  190 road bed and Pine Island remain good for White Bass.  Some good catches of Blue Cats have been comming in on jugs from the lower lake . 

Bethy Creek Marina :  Good fishing for Black Bass early morning on topwater  and midday on soft plastic fished in brush piles around boat houses and cut banks.

Cove Marina:  Trot line fishing has been steady for Blue Cats.  Black Bass are being caught on shallow running crank baits and soft plastic fished around the cattails, laydowns and rock near creek channels.  White Bass are being caught by trolling the river channel and running deep diving crank baits in the cuts off the river channel.

Galloways Marina:  Good Black Bass fishing around the boat houses  with brush piles.  Also, some fish being caught off the points in White Rock and Caney Creeks on shallow diving crank baits  and Bearpaws red shad stick baits Texas rigged.

White Rock City:  Has good Black Bass  to 5lbs. on spinner baits up the creek.

Penwaugh Marina:   Continued good White Bass Fishing on jigged slabs and trolled pet spoons. 

Becon Bay Marina :  Good fishing in the river channel east of Pine Island with some good schooling action mostly late in the evening when the wind lays.

Some good Black Bass have been caught in the State Park area recently .

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of  126.70’ with a release of 1000.00 cfs. at the dam.

The lake is clear in all areas with excellent fishing being reported  for all species  of game fish and catfish.

Boat launches are open at Bethy Creek Resort and the hwy 19 bridge on the north end of the lake and at Becon Bay marina on the south end of the lake. 

Bethy Creek Resort has had excellent fishing for Crappie in the deep holes on minnows and jigs. White Bass, catfish and Black Bass are all being caught near Bethy Creek Resort .

Becon Bay Marina has had excellent fishing for Stripers and White Bass.

Some good fish are being caught in the Pine Island area.

Petes camp at Bedias creek has reports of excellent crappie fishing “all up and down the creek” 

Cat fishing in the river channel has been excellent on the north end of the lake.  Trot linners jug fishermen , rod and reel anglers have all been taking blue cats on fresh shad.  The major cuts in the river channel are all holding fish.  A big Op. was taken on rod and reel at the mouth of Harmon Creek.

There has been excellent fishing for Black Bass recently in the river channel on soft plastic fished on the stump line.

The Trinity River Authority is releasing 1,250 cfs.  The water temp. has been around 70 degrees in the afternoons.   

The main lake is clear and backs of the creeks are clear.  Some parts of the river are off color due to wind and wave action.   

Crappie fishing has been the top draw lately with good reports of fish being caught at 5’depth all around the lake. 

High Fin Blues have been doing good on frozen shad frozen shrimp and worms.

Some big Ops have been caught recently on rod and reel fishing with live perch. 

White Bass fishing reports on the main lake are scattered.  Some schooling fish are being caught in the afternoons on days when the wind lays.

 Black Bass are reported to have been caught recently up to 31/2 lbs.

Beathy Creek Resort

Randall Vincent Reports good Crappie fishing at the boat stall. Good catfish on frozen shrimp near the marina and in the river channel.

Good fishing here for catfish on shad, good White Bass on crank baits and some nice Crappie starting to show.  Black Bass good here up to 31/2 lbs.

The Lake level is at 127.02 feet above sea level, that is about 4’low.
The Trinity River Authority is releasing 5,250 cfs. Water temp. has been 58-70 degrees recently.

The main lake on the south end has fishable clear water. The river channel on the north end is clearing and fishable but is expected to become off color in a few days with fresh water coming down from recent rains in the Dallas area.

Fishing has been excellent on upper lake, mid lake and lower lake.
Crappie, Catfish, White Bass, Black Bass and Strippers have all been good for spawning fish. White Bass are on their annual spawning run up the Trinity north of Lake Livingston with quite a few big females being caught recently.

Penwaugh Marina - Harry Dehtan reports “Crappie good on minnows in 1.5’to 2’ of water. White Bass have been good but are hit and miss. Catfish have been excellent for jug liners and rod and reel fishermen on the sand bars with fresh cut shad. Black Bass are on the Banks spawning and will take a variety of baits.” Harry also reported taking a 9lb. Stripper himself recently.

White Rock City - Good Crappie and White Bass fishing recently. The creek turned a little off color due to runoff from local rain but should clear back up quickly.

Broken Arrow - Excellent Crappie up the creek recently.

Browders - Strippers schooling on the main lake recently, White Bass good on the humps. Fishing for spawning Blue Cats has been excellent recently off sand bars on the main lake for jug liners and rod and reel fishermen. Browders reports the best fishing here the past couple of months that they have seen in 20yrs.

Indian Creek Marina - Cat fishing best with fishing good for Black Bass .

Freedom Shores Marina (formerly Galloway’s) - Linda reported excellent fishing for big Ops in the 20lb. to 40lb. class with fish taking live perch on trot lines. Linda also reported good fishing for Blue Cats up to 28lb.s on fresh shad. Crappie fishing in the boat stalls at Freedom Shores has been good with fish up to 2 1/2lbs taking live minnows and jigs 2’-3’ down.


Beacon Bay Marina - Reports good crappie fishing in the boat stalls and excellent fishing for spawning Blue Cats on the sand bars.

Beathy Creek Resort - Excellent Crappie fishing in the boat stalls. Good fishing for Blue Cats on frozen shrimp at the marina. Good Black Bass fishing on soft plastic. Excellent fishing in the river for spawning Whites on Bear Paws chartreuse ribbed shad rigged on 1/8th oz jig head and ¼ oz. blue hologram rattle traps .
Some big Whites also caught recently on medium diving chartreuse crank baits.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - Excellent Crappie fishing in Harmon Creek. White Bass fishing has been good in Harmon with a lot of males being caught and a few big females. White Bass Fishing for Spawning females has been good in the river when the water clears.

REPAIRS TO THE LAKE LIVINGSTON DAM HAVE BEEN COMPLETED

The lake level is at 127.12 feet above sea level that is about 4 feet low. The Trinity River Authority is releasing 1000,cfs. of water at the dam. The water temp. has been 72 to 78 degrees around the lake. The main lake on the south end has clear water. Mid lake is clear and the river channel on the north end is now clear.
Fishing has been good all over the lake with local Marinas reporting excellent action for catfish, Crappie and White Bass.

Penwaugh Marina - Harry Dehtan reports excellent action for Blue Cats, 12 to 24” early morning shallow on fresh shad fished under a cork. Trot line action is also good for catfish. Crappie good and White Bass good . Black Bass fair.

White Rock City Marina - reports the creek is clear and good crappie fishing on minnows with some good ones being caught.

Broken Arrow Marina - reports the creek is clear and good fishing for catfish and crappie.

Browders - good catfish early on the rocks White bass good in the river and a few Stripers being caught.

Indian Creek marina - Crappie good shallow on minnows and jigs, catfish are good shallow on fresh shad.

Cove Marina - excellent trot line fishing and good Crappie fishing in the area.

Freedom Shores (formerly Galloways) - reports excellent fishing for Crappie in the boat stalls on minnows and jigs. White Bas fishing good around Goat Island. Catfishing good off the bank on fresh shad and several big Ops in the 40 - 60lb. Class being caught recently on trot lines. The 60lb. Fish was caught by a canoeist.

Beathy Creek Resort - Excellent Crappie fishing in the boat stalls, good Blue cats near the marina, some good Black Bass also being caught.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - water is clear with excellent fishing for Crappie on jigs in the brush tops, a few Black Bas have been taken and also White Bass in the cut banks.

T.R.A. reports a lake level of 128.43’ above sea level with a discharge of 1000cfs.

The lake has risen about a foot in the past month with repairs complete at the dam.

Lower lake mid lake and upper river areas are all holding clear water with good fishing reports coming in from around the lake.   A possible new lake record White Bass was reported taken recently out of Browders on the lower lake.

 

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - Excellent Crappie fishing recently up Harmon.  Some schooling action for White Bass early in the morning.  White Bass are holding in deep holes in the creek.  Black Bass fishing fair on Bearpaws June Bug Salamander.

 

Penwaugh Marina - Harry Dehtan reports excellent action for White Bass recently with limits of fish biting on jigged slabs.  Blue Cat fishing is good, crappie fishing fair and Black Bass fair.

 

White Rock City Marina - Crappie good in the creek, a few White Bass being caught and no report on Black Bass.

 

Broken Arrow Marina - Black Bass fishing is good on spinner baits in the creek fished near freshly flooded grass. 

 

Browders -  Reports good white Bass fishing here with a possible lake record being weighed in.

Cove Marina - Reports excellent catfish on trotlines.  Good White Bass and Black Bass fishing also reported coming out of Carolina Creek

 

Freedom Shores (formerly Galloways) -  Hayden Colby reports excellent action for Crappie recently coming out of Caney Creek, also good Black Bass up to five pounds taking crank baits, spinner baits and soft plastic fished around rocks, docks, and wood in White Rock Creek and Caney Creek.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 127.02 with a release of 1000cfs at the dam.  Water temperature has been around 80 - 89 degrees .Some of the upper reaches of the creeks were slightly off color due to recent rains.  Mid lake and lower lake areas remain clear.  Fishing has been good all over the lake with local marinas reporting good action for White Bass, Catfish , Crappie and Largemouth Bass. 

Penwaugh Marina - Harry Dehtan reports excellent fishing for White Bass and catfish.  “White Bass have been schooling under the birds,”  reports Harry.  Crappie and Black Bass fishing has been fair out of Penwaugh.  

 Bethy Creek Marina - Randall Vincent senior reports excellent crappie fishing around the boat stalls and in Bethy Creek. 

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort -  Black bass fishing has been good in Harmon Creek and in the river on log jams.  

White Rock City - A few Crappie are being caught.

 Sandy Creek Marina - Excellent fishing here for White Bass under the Birds and on jigging slabs.  Also, excellent fishing for Blue Cats on fresh shad  fished shallow on jugs and rod and reel. 

Broken Arrow Marina - Reports excellent Black Bass fishing with several 3-4lb. fish and one over six lbs. brought in recently.  The fish are biting on soft plastic in watermelon and hot pink colors and white spinner baits fished up the creek near the edges of  freshly flooded grass lines.

 Freedom Shores Marina - (formerly Galloways) - Has good fishing recently for Black Bass off rocky points,  grass lines and lay downs.  Most fish are taking spinner baits and soft plastic.  Also, some good catches of blue Cats have been coming in.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 128.32 with a release of 1000cfs of water at the dam. Surface water temperature is around 90degrees. All regions of the lake remain clear with good fishing. White Bass and catfish remains excellent on mid lake and lower lake areas.
Whites are being caught in good numbers around Pine Island, Walker Lake, the 190 Road Bed and off the river channel in 7-8ft. of water.
Some good Black bass are taking soft Plastic and spinner baits around freshly flooded vegetation.

Bethy Creek Marina - Reports a six lb. catfish was taken on rod and reel recently off the point at the marina. Also, some excellent crappie are still being caught early in the boat stalls. Scattered White Bass have been caught in the creek and a few good Blacks have been caught under the deeper boat houses with brush piles.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - Some good Blacks have been caught on soft plastic in the brush in deeper holes in Harmon Creek.

White Rock City - Some crappie coming and a few scattered Black Bass.

Penwaugh Marina - Has excellent fishing for White Bass and Catfish. Catfish are being caught on jugs on fresh shad and rod and reel on fresh chicken livers fished off structure. White Bass are biting on jigged slabs and trolled spoons off humps in 7-8ft. Of water with deeper water near.

Sandy Creek Marina - Has excellent fishing for catfish and White Bass. Most of the catfish being caught early on fresh shad fished with jugs or rod and reel.

Broken Arrow Marina - some good Black Bass are being caught in freshly flooded grass on spinner baits and soft plastic.

Freedom shores Marina - (formerly Galloways) - Some good strings of Blue cats have come in recently caught on fresh shad in White Rock Creek. Black Bass fishing has been good around rocks and boat houses on finesse worms. Also, some good Blacks and Crappie have come out of Caney Creek recently.

White Bass and catfish remains excellent on mid lake and lower lake areas.
Whites are being caught in good numbers around Pine Island, Walker Lake, the 190 Road Bed and off the river channel in 7-8ft. of water.
Some good Black bass are taking soft Plastic and spinner baits around freshly flooded vegetation.

Bethy Creek Marina - Reports a six lb. catfish was taken on rod and reel recently off the point at the marina. Also, some excellent crappie are still being caught early in the boat stalls. Scattered White Bass have been caught in the creek and a few good Blacks have been caught under the deeper boat houses with brush piles.

Browders 3728 Marina reports excellent catfish below the dam and excellent White Bass around Pine Island.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - Some good Blacks have been caught on soft plastic in the brush in deeper holes in Harmon Creek.

White Rock City - Some crappie coming and a few scattered Black Bass.

Penwaugh Marina - Has excellent fishing for White Bass and Catfish. Catfish are being caught on jugs on fresh shad and rod and reel on fresh chicken livers fished off structure. White Bass are biting on jigged slabs and trolled spoons off humps in 7-8ft. Of water with deeper water near.

Sandy Creek Marina - Has excellent fishing for catfish and White Bass. Most of the catfish being caught early on fresh shad fished with jugs or rod and reel.

Broken Arrow Marina - some good Black Bass are being caught in freshly flooded grass on spinner baits and soft plastic.

Freedom shores Marina - (formerly Galloways) - Some good strings of Blue cats have come in recently caught on fresh shad in White Rock Creek. Black Bass fishing has been good around rocks and boat houses on Bearpaws Lazy Stick Worms. Also, some good Blacks and Crappie
have come out of Caney Creek recently.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 127.38 with one gate open at the dam and a release of 1000cfs. The lake received over 3 inches of rain recently that muddied up several of the creeks and got the Blue Cats Moving. Excellent reports came in from Harmon Creek, Kickapoo Creek and White Rock for Blues after the rains. The lake is in great shape with good fishing reports coming in from all around the lake. The Lake is now full of much needed vegetation provided by mother nature following the draw down as a result of the hurricane last year. We are seeing a new Lake Livingston and things are looking good for the future. This year could be one of the best duck seasons ever. Teal hunting was excellent in the early September season with many limits taken by area duck hunters.

Freedom Shores Marina - Excellent fishing for Blue cats recently on fresh shad up White Rock Creek. Good Largemouth Bass taken recently off letdowns and rocky points on Cavitron buzz baits early and Bear Paws soft Plastic. White Bass are scattered.

Bethy Creek Marina - Excellent Crappie fishing here recently on jigs, blue Cats good on jug lines, some action for schooling White Bass.

Harmon Creek Marina - Excellent action for Blue Cats here in Harmon Creek on fresh peeled shrimp following the recent runoff in the creek from the rains.

White Rock City - Catfish good on trot lines baited with fresh cut shad. The creek is off color at White Rock City.

Broken Arrow Marina - Nearly 4 inches of rain reported here recently. Cat fishing was excellent following the rain. Large mouth Bass fishing has been good for fish up to four pounds taken in freshly flooded grass on white spinner baits and black lizards.

Browders Marina - Reports good cat fishing I the main lake and good fishing for White Bass on jigging spoons and trolling in the Pine Island area. Fishing I the river has been slow.

Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 131.2 with a release of 750 cfs. Surface water temperature has been ranging from the 56 to 61 degrees. Parts of the lake are off color and others clear. There has been some excellent fishing recently up the creeks. Duck hunting has been good for Mallards and Wood Ducks.

Bethy Creek Marina - has had some good Crappie fishing in the boat stalls and in the creek across from the marina on jigs and live minnows.

Cove Marina - Reports good catfish on trot lines, good White Bass recently and some good Strippers being brought in. Duck hunting has also been good out of Cove Marina.

White Rock City - Some good Crappie and White bass have come in here recently. The water in the creek at White Rock City Marina is clear.

Sandy Creek - Reports good Crappie fishing and good cat fishing.

Broken Arrow Marina - Reports limits of crappie taken recently and also good fishing for Black Bass.

Indian Creek Marina - Good fishing here for Crappie in the boat stalls and good fishing for catfish on jug lines.

Freedom Shores Marina - Reports good cat fishing in the river on fresh shad and good fishing for White Bass and Black Bass up Caney Creek.

Harmon Creek Marina - has had good fishing for White Bass and a few Blacks being caught recently.

    Trinity River Authority reports a lake Level of 131.03 with a release of 2000, cfs.  Surface water temp. has been between 55-60 degrees.  Lower lake is clear as is most of the creeks and the river channel.  Crappie fishing has been excellent up the major creeks in 12 - 14 ft. of water and around the boat houses at the marinas.  Cat fishing has been good, Black Bass fair.  White Bass are staging for the Spring Spawn.  Duck hunting has been excellent in flooded vegetation for Mallards and Wood Ducks.

 

Bethy Creek Marina - has steady Crappie fishing in the boat stalls, good catfish on jug lines and a few Black Bass taken recently

 

Harmon Creek Marina - good trotline action for Blue Cats and Ops. Over 10lbs. Crappie fair and White Bass will be moving into the upper creek.

 

Cove Marina - reports steady action for Blue Cats on trot lines and fair Black Bass fishing in vegetation and cut banks.

 

White Rock City - has good fishing up white Rock Creek for Crappie on minnows and also some good White Bass coming in.

 

Sandy Creek Marina - reported good fishing for blue cats on trotline and good crappie fishing up Kickapoo Creek.

 

Broken Arrow - Good crappie fishing in 12-15ft. Water, excellent fishing for Yellow Bass and good Black Bass fishing on Lures.

     Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 131.54  with a release of 37,000 cfs.  Surface water temperature is around 50 degrees.  The lake is  about a foot high and is settling down after rising  5 feet above normal recently.  Cat fishing with jug lines and rod and reel has been good up the creeks and in the back water recently.  White Bass  are starting to move up the creeks for the annual spawn.  Crappie fishing and Black Bass fishing has been  good in the creeks when the water clears. 

 Bethy Creek Resort - Has had good fishing for Crappie in the boat stalls and good fishing for catfish in the river channel. 

Harmon Creek Marina - has had good fishing for catfish up the creeks on fresh peeled shrimp when the water is moving.

     Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of

131.02  with a release of 26,200 cfs.  Surface water temperature is around 68 - 72 degrees.  The lake level at Riverside is 134’ with fresh water coming down the river from Dallas. Much of the lake is off color now due to recent rains.  Several of the larger creeks are holding clear water.  There has been good fishing recently in the Penwaugh area for White Bass and Large

Mouth.   Crappie fishing, White and Black Bass fishing

has been  good in the creeks. Most of the White Bass have spawned out now.  Trot lining and jug fishing is steady. 

 

Bethy Creek Resort - has had good fishing for Crappie in the boat stalls. and good fishing for catfish near the Marina. Some good Large Mouth Bass have also been taken here recently on spinner baits.

 

Harmon Creek Marina -  water is backing up into Harmon creek now.  Good fishing for White Bass in the creek.

A few good Blacks also being taken on soft plastic and crank baits.

 

Cove Marina - has good fishing for Blue cats on trot lines.  Good fishing for Large Mouth in Thomas lake area on soft plastic.

The Trinity River Authority reports a lake level at 131.15 and a release of 12,000 cfs. Surface water temperature is around 75-79degrees.
Much of the main lake remains off color due to the recent influx of fresh water coming down the Trinity River from Dallas. Most of the major creeks are clear. Crappie fishing has been improving with some good reports coming in from around the lake. Cat fishing has been excellent all over the lake with White Bass good in isolated areas of clear water. Black Bass fishing has also been good in the creeks.

Bethy Creek Resort - crappie and catfish good off the bank near the marina. Cat fishing has been excellent on jug lines out in Bethy Creek.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - crappie steady in the brush tops and good white Bass fishing when the water backs up in Harmon from the river. Black Bass fair, catfish good on jugs.

Cove Marina - cat fishing has been outstanding recently in the river and Carolina Creek on rod and reel and jug lines. Some nice Crappie are starting to come in near the marina.

White Rock City - catfish good , Crappie fair

Sandy Creek Marina - White Bass good around Dove Island, a few Crappie being caught up the creek.

Broken Arrow Marina - Good Crappie fishing up Kickapoo Creek. Good Black Bass fishing up to 4lbs near the marina, good bream fishing. The water has been clear up Kickapoo.

Browders - Limits of White bass caught recently in the river. Catfish good in the lake.

Indian Creek - Reports good catfish on jug lines.

Cape Royal - White Bass good around Pine Island in clear water on slabs.

White Bass excellent in Penwaugh on trolled Pet Spoons and jigging slabs. Lots of short Strippers and occasional Hybrid also being caught out of Penwaugh.

The Trinity River Authority reports a lake level of 131.18 with a discharge of 24,000 cfs.

Surface water temperature is around 76-80’. The main lake is “ streaky” with fresh run off from rains to the north coming down the Trinity River channel. Clear areas of the lake have been producing good catches of White Bass, Strippers and Large mouth. White Bass fishing has remained good in the Pine Island, Penwaugh, and Dove Island areas. Large Mouth have been taken recently up the creeks keying on cattails wood and rock.

Catfishing has been good all over the lake and is excellent now in the river Channel at Riverside in moving water. Crappie fishing has been fair around boat houses. Excellent bow fishing in flooded back waters.

Bethy Creek Marina and Resort - Good crappie fishing around the boat stalls and excellent cat fishing in the river channel. Black bass fair on soft plastic.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - Good cat fishing on jug lines in the Harmon Creek flats. Good Black Bass in flooded vegetation, White Bass fair in the creek.

Cove Marina - Excellent Cat fishing with rod and reel in the river channel. Good Black Bass fishing in flooded vegetation at Thomas Lake on soft plastic and crank baits off points.

Most of the lake is clear now with good fishing in many areas. White bass have been schooling in mid lake areas and below the dam. Crappie are starting to come in the creeks and some excellent Large Mouth bass have been caught recently.

Bethy Creek Marina and Resort - Good fishing for Large Mouth on soft plastic around brush and cut banks. Some schooling White Bass in Bethy creek.

Harmon Creek Marina and Resort - Good Crappie fishing recently and lots of short Large Mouth Bass being caught in Harmon Creek.

Cove Marina - Good cat fishing on jug lines and some good Large Mouth taken up Carolina Creek on crank baits.

White Rock City Marina - Reports checking in a Large Mouth Bass tipping the scales at over 12lbs.

THE LAKE IS CLEAR WITH EXCELLENT FISHING REPORTS COMING IN FROM LOCAL MARINAS.
