Normal Lake Level – 131’
Current Lake Level – 131.50
Water Temperature – 60’-63’
Water Clarity  –  Lower  lake,  clear, mid lake, cloudy,  upper creeks, cloudy to tea colored.

 

 

FISHING FORECAST –Spring has sprung and White Bass are running. White Bass fishing  in the creeks has been outstanding. Black Bass are moving off the beds and holding  tight to structure on the cut banks in mid area creeks.  Fish “Charlie’s Black Gecko around wood rocks and boat houses.  Crappie fishing has been good and  with sustained warm weather the Crappie should move shallow and spawn.   Blue cats are starting to show up shallow on the bulk heads.

SPECIES REPORT:

 

Black Bass {largemouth} –  Fair to good fishing  spinner  baits and “Charlie’s worms fished shallow around wood and lay downs .

Catfish – Good  fishing for Blue Cats with popping corks baited with fresh shad and fished under the “bird roost”  in Harmon Creek.   Several big “ Opps” were brought in recently to Bethy Creek Resort and Carolina Cove Resort caught in the river channel on trot lines baited with live perch.   Also, good fishing for Blue Cats with jug lines baited with fresh shad.

Crappie – Good fishing for Crappie recently in all the upper creeks.  Look for clear water and fish minnows and jigs around boat houses and lay-downs.   Use a slip cork set from 1-4’

White Bass – White Bass have been “all over the place”, from lower lake to the upper creeks.  Spawning Whites are still being caught in the upper creeks and in the river.  Lots of males have been in the creeks with the large females being in the river.  Best bite has been in clear or “tea” colored water.
