Water Clarity – south lake clearing, mid lake clearing, upper river channel clearing.
FISHING FORECAST; Once again the lake is settling out and returning to normal conditions following significant spring rains. While much of the lake has been off color and fishing challenging, Team Palmetto has consistantly put customers on fish. White Bass, Large Mouth or catfish there is always fish to be caught on Lake Livingston. Look for white to start stacking up on ridges and humps in the mid lake and lower lake regions. Lake Livingston consist of over 90.000 acres of water and 450 miles of shore line.
SPECIES REPORT:
Black Bass {largemouth} – Look for clear pockets of water in the upper lake creeks. Throw 3/8 oz. tandem spinner baits, white or chartruese around shallow wood. Key on rocky points in Bethy Creek and White Rock Creeks . Throw Chikara 3d holographic 6-8′ diving crank baits in shad or spring craw patterns down the rocks. Fish up to five lbs. have been taken recently recently on. “Charlie’s Flippin Bug” fished around boat houses. Fish June Bug creature baits and Charlie’s Gecko around shallow brush and rocks.
Catfish – Look for Blue to move in shallow on mid lake and lower lake bulk heads and major sand bars. Fish fresh shad under a cork near the bulk heads and tight line the sand bars. Fish fresh cut shad drifted on jug lines across the flats in Carolina , Bethy and Kickapoo creeks.
Crappie – Some Crappie being caught in the major creeks . Bethy , White Rock , Harmon and Caney are all producing fish. Best bite is in areas of clear water 3-5′. Fish the log jams and lay downs with live minnows and jigs. Best jig has been black and chartruese tube jig rigged on a 1/16 oz. jig head.
White Bass – The river Channel is still off color however could produce some good catches of Whites in the next few weeks as it settles out considering no more run off. Look for Whites to start showing up on mid and lower lake humps including the 190 road bed and Pine Island areas. Key on humps 12′-17′ and verticle jig the Tsunami Zombie Eye Jig 1oz. Also, trolled pet spoons over the humps.
Stripers – Key on old bridge rails and drop offs around the old 190 bridge and the river channel. Verticle jig the same Tsunami Zombie Eye jig for the Stripers.
