FISHING FORECAST – Great summer fishing is cranking up now on Lake Livingston. The water is settling out after spring rains and good reports of fishing for all species are coming in from all parts of the Lake. White Bass, Crappie, Black Bass and Catfish are now being caught in good in good numbers . Lake Livingston consists of 90,000 surface acres of water and over 450 miles of shoreline.
SPECIES REPORT:
Black Bass {largemouth} – Look for clear water in the creeks and key on wood and rocks near the cut banks. Fish Charlies June bug “Brush Buster” Texas rigged in Bethy, Carolina and Newton Creeks on the north end. Fish Penwaugh and Kickapoo on the South end. Black Bass up to five lbs. have been caught recently in Thomas Lake.
Catfish – Good fishing for Blue cats in Harmon Creek on popping corks baited with fresh cut shad and peeled shrimp. Also some good catches coming on jug lines in Carolina and Bethy Creeks. Rod and reel fishing in the river channel has been excellent. Good fishing for Blue cats over baited holes. Blue cats continue to be caught on the mid and lower lake bulk heads running the shad at first light.
Crappie – Fish the mid lake and lower lake boat houses with live minnows or jigs. Best bite is around the deeper boat houses in clear pockets of water.
White Bass – Scattered reports of White Bass are comming in from all over the lake. 190 road bed to Pine Island and hells 1/2 acre areas are producing good catches of Whites by jigging Tsunami Zombie Eye jigs off structure 12′ to 17′. Best bite has been at mid day. Look for birds and schooling Whites mid lake and south lake. The mouths of Harmon and Carolina Creeks are producing Whites early am. on medium diving crank baits.
Stripers – occasional Striper being caught fishing for Whites. Look for schooling fish south lake area early am. Follow the birds to the schools.
