SPECIES REPORT:

Black Bass {largemouth} – .  Fish up to five lbs. recently on.   “Charlie’s Flippin Bug”  fished around boat houses.  Fish June Bug creature baits and Lizards around shallow brush and rocks on the north end.  Fish medium diving crank baits around rocky points and rip rap.  Penwaugh, Kickapoo, White Rock and Carolina creeks have all produced 2-4lb fish recently.

Catfish – Fish fresh cut shad drifted on jug lines across the  flats in  Carolina , Bethy and Kickapoo creeks.   Drift fresh shad on rod and reel across the 190 flats and old river channel now for monster Blue Cats.  Fish the old 190 bridges with  chicken liver and shad for Blue Cats.

Crappie –   Crappie are being caught in the  major creeks now .  Bethy , White Rock and Harmon are all producing fish.  Water has finally cleared in the major creeks.  Fish the log jams and lay downs with live minnows and jigs.  Best jig has been black and chartreuse tube jig rigged on a 1/16 oz. jig head.

White Bass –   White Bass are biting EVERYWHERE now.  I have been consistantly catching limits of Whites off mid lake humps on the Palmetto double tandum jig rig. Follow the birds to surface schooling Whites.  Look for Whites up the major creeks now. Harmon Creek has been good for big Whites on rattle trtaps in the 980 bridge area near Harmon Creek Marina.

Duck Hunting –  We are starting to see Blue Winged Teal now and numbers should increase for the Teal season opener here Sept. 10.
