Lake Livingston is a freshwater reservoir located about 70 miles north of Houston, Tx. Lake Livingston was impounded in 1969 for a water resource with over 90,000 surface acres of water and 450 miles of shoreline. Lake Livingston is well known for its great fishing.
Lake Livingston is one of the premiere White Bass destinations in the world. Famous for its’ incredible White Bass spring spawn when Whites migrate up the river and move into tributary creeks. Late spring and summer Whites move back into the main lakes where we catch them over structure and also watch for schooling fish. Limits of Whites, 25 fish per person, from 12-15 inches are common. The lake record White Bass is an incredible 4.12 lbs. and 21 inches. Hybrid White Bass and Striped Bass are commonly caught along with Whites.
Recreational and tournament fishing for Black Bass with 5 fish stringers 15 lbs. to over 20 lbs. are common. Lake Livingston offers a variety of habitat for Black Bass including vegetation, standing dead timber, log jams and boat houses. Tournament pre-fishing trips are available.
Lake Livingston abounds with great Crappie fishing. Spring fishing the Crappie spawn and structure fishing produces Crappie year round.
Lake Livingston is regarded as one of the best catfishing destinations in Texas. Blue Cats are the primary species with Channel Cats and Flathead Cats common. We use several techniques to catch catfish. In the spring, we fish shallow up against the bulkheads for spawning Blues, or in the river channel if the water is rising. We also fish over baited holes for catfish.
