FISHING FORECAST – Great fall fishing is cranking up now on Lake Livingston. Look for Crappie to move into the deep holes in the creeks. With any sustained warming trend White Bass will kick off their annual run. The weather this time of year is a major factor in fishing. Sustained water temperature over 60′ and all species of fish will get the spawning urge.
Lake Livingston consists of 90,000 surface acres of water and over 450 miles of shoreline.
SPECIES REPORT:
Black Bass {largemouth} – Now is the time to think about catching a trophy. Fish will be transitioning from deeper depths to mouths of creeks and creek ledges. Slow roll spinner baits in deep cuts off the creeks. Fish Charlies June bug “Brush Buster” Texas rigged around wood an rocks in Bethy and Carolina Creeks. Black Bass up to five lbs. have been caught recently in Thomas Lake and up Carolina Creek.
Catfish – Look for some great blue Cat action in the river channel with new water coming down. Good fishing for Blue cats in Harmon Creek on popping corks baited with fresh cut shad and peeled shrimp. Also some good catches comming on jug lines in Kickapoo, Carolina and Bethy Creeks. Good fishing for Blue cats over baited holes
Crappie – Look for pre spawn Crappie to stack up in thedeep holes in the major creeks where the will take minnows and jigs fished slowly in 8-11’water. Crappie will move shallow with any warming trend.
White Bass – Scattered reports of White Bass are comming in from the upper lake creeks. Local rain, water temperature over 60′ with a south wind will get the Whites moving up the creeks. Fish Bear Paws jigs, Berkly power grubs and sassy shad up the creeks. Fish the baits slow on the bottom. Best bite has been at mid daylake and south lake. Look for Whites to move into Deep holes inWhite Rock. Harmon and Carolina and Bethy Creeks.
Duck hunting – Good hunting for wood ducks with lots of acorns holding birds in the timber. Good numbers of Mallards are now down. Check Trinity River Authority duck hunting regulations before heading out.
