Water Clarity – upper river channel clear, mid lake and lower lake clear, upper creeks clear.
FISHING FORECAST: Spring has sprung early this year on Lake Livingston. Warmer than normal ambient air and water temperatures have provided outstanding action for sportsmen. The lake is in great shape and all species of fish are biting. Crappie have moved shallow and Whites have moved up the river and creeks. This pattern should continue through spring with no major drop in water temperature or rains. Conditions are good for a for the spring run of White Bass. Crappie and Whites are now being caught with eggs ready to spawn.
Don’t miss out on the great spring fishing. Lake Livingston consist of over 90.000 acres of water and 450 miles of shore line.
SPECIES REPORT:
Black Bass {largemouth}- Throw white double tandem blade spinner baits near wood on the inside cuts of major creeks. Fish to five lbs. taken recently in Carolina Cove flipping June Bug Charlie’s Gecko and Charlies swiming jig, black and red under boat houses. Fish wood and laydowns in the river channel. Several good fish caught recently in Penwaugh Bay near the marina flipping boat docks with soft plastic. Medium diving crank baits in sexy shad and chartruese blue are taking fish off mid lake rocky points and off points in White Rock and Bethy Creeks.
Catfish – Look for Blue cats to start moving into the bulk heads and sand bars whre they can be caught in good numbers on fresh shad. Good fishing for big Blue Cats on drifted shad mid lake and lower lake regions. Fishing the bird roost in Harmon Creek has been good for Blues on fresh shad fished under a popping cork. Jug line fishing for blue cats has been good in in the Bays when the wind is blowing.
Crappie – Some excellent Crappie coming out of upper lake creeks in clear water. Look for spawning Crappie on the banks in less tha 4 ‘ of water. Fish jigs and minnows around lay downs. Good Crappie also being caught in the river channel near wood.
White Bass – The Run is on!!! Fish the deep holes near sand bars as far as you can get up the major creeks. Look for clearing or tea colored water following a local rain. Throw inline spinners, jigs and small rattle traps in the creeks. If the water stays clear in the river the Whites will spawn in the river channel. HERE you can throw medium diving crank baits, rattle traps and sassy shad. Long troll 1/2 oz. rattle traps or a pet spoon behind a diver in the river channel. Key on cut banks and major points.
